…shall keep them from walking across Ontario!  Tuesday after Easter, third day of the pilgrimage, the Portageurs were already facing their most challenging stretch: 29km, some of it on an uphill grade so steep that the vehicle could not follow, and in one of those freak snowstorms we have seen so many of this winter.
 
The Portageurs’ spirits are not dampened in the least! Tired, but enthusiastic, Jerry and Annie-Claude have reached me on the phone each day to recount their numerous adventures. Topping the list is the extraordinary welcome they have received along the way, from St Margaret’s in Midland, to St Andrews in Brechin where they are resting their weary feet tonight.
 
The first few days have been quite busy dealing with the logistics of launching such a pilgrimage as well as walking and communicating with the press. Coverage has been great already, with local, national and even international interest! Hopefully the Portageurs will be able to “talk” to you directly in the blog in the next few days.
